Replacing your products with natural, clean options is easier than you think. I have tested and reviewed many clean products so that you can also make the choice to go CLEAN.
Making the change doesn’t happen overnight. Taking well researched steps by trying and testing takes time. I’m still searching for new products, however I can now say that all my beauty and body products are clean thanks to brands such as Nathalie Bond, Suneeta London and RMS Beauty.
It is extremely important to cut down in using products that contain dangerous chemicals, and then eventually go completely clean. The Clean Guide page lists the chemicals and substances to look out for in products that you should avoid. It’s more than going ‘natural’, it’s about going clean.

The Clean Article reviews products that are clean by having no harmful ingredients and that work. Nathalie Bond and Suneeta London are two of The Clean Article’s favourite brands. Body scrubs, body washes, soaps and oils work perfectly on the skin that will have no harm on the environment or the body.

The British Skin Foundation along with many other organisations outlines a comprehensive list of what chemicals to avoid. These lists are also useful to determine whether or not a clean brand is actually ‘clean’!
Formaldehyde
A toxic, and flammable gas at room temperature. Used in the production of fertilizer, paper, and some resins.
Dibutyl Phthalate or DBP
A man made chemical that is added to plastics and other chemicals. Helps keep plastics soft (a plasticizer). DBP is known to also be a hormone disruptor.
Toluene, also called toluol or methylbenzeneis
A colourless liquid. Exposure to toluene can be harmful and cause eye and nose irritation, muscle fatigue, nerve damage, inflammation of the skin, and liver and kidney damage among other things.
Formaldehyde Resin
Synthetic polymers used to make nails shiny and hard. Can cause skin allergies.
Xylene
Causes throat irritations, dizziness and headaches. Can have damaging effects on the nervous system, skin, eyes and lungs.
Camphor
Camphor may affect the kidneys and nervous system and can be bad when you inhale it. This is the substance that will make your nails yellow after removing the polish. It acts as a barrier on your nails.
Rosin (colophon)
Used as a binder agent. Camphor may affect the kidneys and nervous system. It is an irritant and allergen.
